The power of presence

We run on programs.

We run on programs that are formed throughout our lives - Many are formed during the first 0-7years but we continue to learn & acquire concepts & beliefs throughout life.

Another word for a program is a belief.

It is what we match everything up against as we move through our days - life either aligns with our beliefs or it does not.

This interesting thing is - some beliefs we are aware of - but many we are not.

Most of this "programming" or ingrained beliefs live in our subconscious mind - they are like our default settings.

Now the interesting thing is - sometimes we acquire beliefs that do not serve us - this is no-ones fault as such - it is just life & to transmute these beliefs that do not serve or perhaps limiting beliefs are well, our life lessons.

In order to be able to notice the deep seeded beliefs we have though - we must have a certain amount of awareness.

Without awareness - these programs run our lives. Noting here - they can serve or perhaps not.

We cannot change that which we are not aware of...

Within the knowledge that we run on these so called programs or beliefs - there comes a questioning well what are my beliefs? Do they serve? Do some not?

This point calls us to reflect. To stop & take stock of ourselves, our ways of being, our life path, common habits/patterns & question where perhaps they came from & what lies beneath?

Like what REALLY LIES BENEATH. This work is deep. It takes bravery & compassion.

Through delving into this mahi ora - life work - we then begin to become aware of perhaps what our real beliefs are. Of self & the world around us.

THEN from this place we have the potential to see where these beliefs manifest in our daily living. 

Then s#it gets interesting !

However there needs to be a certain amount of presence/awareness to actually notice. Often when we are in the thick of these ways of being - the insight will not come until afterwards.

The "oh there I go again' OR perhaps "wow there it is!" 

When we adopt a practice of presence into our days - essentially what we are doing is "building our muscle" of awareness or presence - Which allows us to see & notice more. Connect more dots. Have more choices. Learn more about self. 

A practice of presence is often perhaps just a pause & grounding back into the body. Stepping out of thought loops & urgency to slow back down into the present moment & connect into your body. This can be done in many micro moments throughout the day. While you are at traffic lights, while you are waiting in a line, while the kettle is boiling lol any time you find your self "waiting" is a great starting place for this practice. A practice of presence also aligns with any mindfulness practice such as Yoga, Meditation or Mantra.

There are many pathways to this way of being.

Awareness is the Alchemy of Transformation. There is no need to force change - Commit & trust that it will come as you continue to raise your sense of presence & awareness around that which you wish to transmute. Each facet & next step will become clear to you - as you continue to be aware of whatever you are working on within.

The first step is always having knowing of this - then from that point - well the choice is ultimately yours.

When we open the doorway to the present moment & our sense of presence - we in turn open our selves up to a multitude of possibilities!

There is a liberation of energy. There is a raising of awareness. More choices become available. 

We shift from limited, reactive, habitual - To present, expansive, creative.

The latter is healing, learning, growing.

We all have this potential within us.

It just takes a redirection of energy inwards. Some commitment. Some personal responsibility. Some compassion.
