Journaling is a sacred practice
I place journaling under the umbrella of what I call Mahi ora - Life work. Kinda like the home work of life or part the foundations of it really. The extra stuff - or what we perceive to be "extra" which really isn't - Its at the core of it all.
Getting to know ones self.
The process of writing is a form of self expression. This aligns with the Throat Chakra - Which as you may know is also aligned with Authenticity - In this way you may see how this particular form of self expression (journaling) helps us on our journey to finding our true nature through the process of getting to know ourselves, our inner thoughts, feelings, beliefs.
Through the process of connection & writing.
It calls us to connect to ourselves - then express that which we find through writing. THIS is why it is so valuable. It calls us to inquire within. To tap into what is just under the surface, or perhaps deep within.. & look into the intricacies of self. It is all there for us - through how we choose to direct our attention inwards - with compassion & curiosity.
Innate wisdom
This is the act of connecting to our innate wisdom within. Yes it might not feel like it - but it is the passage of knowing thyself - which is what it is all about.
When we look at the energies of the Throat Chakra - They are also aligned with communication. Yes communication with others - speaking & listening - BUT also communication with self. Internal dialog comes in here - but guess what else - JOURNALLING. Of course it does - it comes under this communication umbrella. Through connection to ourselves.
WORDS.
They are powerful. What we think - we ultimately become. Through this inquiry with self - we can actually begin to define WHAT WE REALLY THINK - WHAT WE REALLY BELIEVE.
It is through this inquiry - that it all becomes more familiar & clear.
Also in alignment with the Throat Chakra - is speaking your truth - closely aligned with authenticity as you can image. Now - this is yes speaking it with others but guess what? It means speaking it with yourself.
Radical Honesty ~ Truth with self.
Radical honesty with self. Getting to the core of it/ourselves. Within the journaling process - we are called to this honesty. To express this - then see what comes of it.
When people say - All you need is within you. It is all there - The so called "good" & "bad" - it is all there for us to learn from.
As we delve into the depths of our selves with radical honesty - compassion & curiosity - we are learning. Getting to know ourselves.
From this learning comes insight.
But I don't know what to write...
O you will, in time. It is a process of learning like all others.
"I've never been a writer"
"I don't know what to write"
"I don't have time for that"
"I don't want to go there"
"I don't see the point"
Through the practice of connecting with ourselves & just going with what we find - we will in time become more familiar with what is within. The process of connecting to it & then expressing it.
The more we inquire - the more becomes available to us.
Trust the process but also - know that there is value in each part of the process.
EVEN where there appears to be none - this is also a part of the process.
True story my friend. I learned this myself.
When we are open to learning - everything becomes learning. ESPECIALLY when you add a sprinkle of curiosity to it - What lies beneath?
Understanding this - actually allows us to learn! Opening us up to learning where perhaps we previously thought there was none & often the blockages that were right in the way!
Its a funny old thing I tell ya.
Then of course as we get to know thyself - we actually begin to move through the world differently - we notice things in our days. We gain more insight. Life becomes a little clearer...
Its all connected my friend.
As within - so without.
As above - so below.
As we get to know ourselves on the inside - Our outer world begins to reflect this knowing back to us in weird & wonderful ways.
Let the magic begin! Do the work! Yes its work! its hard at times, perhaps the HARDEST! But you are strong. Look what you have been through. Take a moment. Recognise your strength.
Then carry on - you have got this.
Ma te Marama e tiaho mai - May the moon shine upon you.
Full Moon Blessings my friend on this last phase of our Full Moon.
With love, Millisa.
