Who is she?
Yes she is a mother, but not always. This archetype speaks of an all encompassing energy of what it is to be a mother - in nurture, fruition, support, acceptance, unconditional love, safety, connection to nature & guidance. The Mother has been through a period of growth and self discovery. She has now reached a sense of maturity and fruition. She embraces all that cross her path with love, support and acceptance.
The Full Moon
The Mother Archetype aligns with the Full Moon phase of our Lunar Cycle. The phase at which the moon is coming into full, is full and then just begins to wane. As the word "Full" implies this energy & archetype aligns with a sense of fruition, high energy, depth of being. The bright light from the full moon shines over everything - encasing us all in its beautiful glow, such as the Mother energies does with its nurture, support & love.
Moontime - Our Menstrual phase
Our Menstrual cycle. The part of our cycle that the Mother Archetype aligns with is our Ovulatory phase, where the egg is released from the ovary. It is the part of our cycle when our hormone levels have reached their peak, we feel confident, still have our inner drive and feel a little more sexy than usual! This is often the phase when we are most likely to fall pregnant or practice at it.
In alignment with our inner drive & this sense of energy - it speaks to the all encompassing energy of the mother - That at this stage of our cycle we have much to give. We feel on top of life, we are thriving with the energy needed to support us & in turn support the others around us.
The Seasons & The Mother Archetype
Summertime - Bloom
In further connecting to the wisdom of nature the Mother Archetype aligns with the season of Summer. Following the cycle of the seasons, coming out of Spring time/new growth/intention setting/planning energies - the energy of the Mother Archetype reminds us that everything has a time to bloom. It's a time to take advantage of the warmer weather and put plans into action. Activity in nature is high, as is the energy. Trees and vegetation are beginning to come into fruition. This speaks to the mother energy - In full bloom, warmth, plans, productivity, abundance and ideas coming to fruition.
Shadow of the Mother Archetype
It is also important to remember with the light there is also the dark. So conversely being aware of the shadow qualities of the Mother is equally, if not more so, important than knowing what the "light" ones are.
By acknowledging these shadow aspects there is a greater sense of understanding and then balance within the Mother Archetype.
Potential to neglect your own needs - always putting others first
Loss of identity as a woman/self
Lack of boundaries
Struggle to let go
A feeling of lack of direction
Controlling
Rigid
As you can see, the Shadow Qualities of the Mother definitely need to be paid mind to. The energy and love of the Mother archetype is a beautiful thing. If fact this ever giving nature has great value placed upon it within society. But with all things we must be mindful of balance. There must also be value placed upon the support and self care of the nurturer. A woman can have this kind caring nature, but she must also remember to honour herself and her own needs to ensure she is well in body, mind and wairua.
A flower cannot bloom forever.
Notably the shadow quality of struggling to let go can also surface here. When the mother archetype takes over and all energy is put into others, and not balanced out by directing the energy of love, empowerment & growth equally inward - fostering our own journey of healing and growth along side those we support. We can find ourselves struggling to let go of those we nurture. Our sense of self is then attached to those that we nurture. Feelings and actions of over powering, sometimes judgement and control can surface. Rather than fostering independence & freedom, supporting alongside life's lessons.
As you can see - its a delicate dance, but one worth learning & being aware of.
AWARENESS IF THE ALCHEMY OF TRANSFORMATION.
